Ptáme se proč jsou zrcadla kouzelná??
V kouzelnickém bájesloví se o zrcadlech mluví už celá tisíciletí.Vzhledem k tomu ,že za starých časů přišla výroba zrcadel dost draho,byly to předměty poměrně vzácné a schopné vyvolávat údiv i posvátnou úctu.Podle některých legend to byli nástroje ďáblovi,protože stejně jako k zachycení lidské podoby se jich dalo použít k polapení duše.Ve středověku se kouzelníci dívali do zrcadel,chtěli předpovědět budoucnost nebo najít odpověď na závažné otázky.Byla to jistá forma věštění.
Nejslavnějším literárním kouzelným zrcadlem je nepochybně to,které patřilo zlé královně ve Sněhurce.Najdeme však i mnohá další.jedné z pohádek tisíce a jedné noci dal džin princi Alasnamovi zrcadlo,které mi prozradilo , zda může či nemůže věřit své milence.Ve Spenserově básni z alžbětinské Anglie nazvané královna víl,vytvořil Merlin pro krále Ryencea zrcadlo s podobnými vlastnostmi.Uvedené zrcadlo se nápadně podobá jinému zrcadlu,jež popisuje další slavný britský básník,který žil 300 let před Spenserem.Geoffrey Chaucer-jeden z prvních anglických píšících básníků-vytvořil dlouhou řadu příběhů nazvaných Canterburské povídky,v jedné z těchto povídek daruje král Arábie a Indie jinému králi jménem Kambuschán co jiného než zrcadlo.
Zrcadla slouží nejen jako nástroje předpovídání budoucnosti,ale často fungují jako dveře vedoucí do jiných světů,jako je tomu v případě zrcadla popsaného v Alence a zrcadlem od Lewise Carrolla.
ZDRCADLO Z ERISEDU:
Zrcadla především odrážejí naši vlastní podobu,a to bez ohledu na to,jaká je.Proto mohou být tak nebezpečná.Zrcadlem tohoto typu je nepochybně i zrcadlo z Erisedu(z H.P. a kamene mudrců)Je vysoké až do stropu,ve zdobném zlatém rámu.Nahoře jsou vyryta následující slova:Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi.Čten pozpátku,dává tento text následující sdělení:I show not your face but your heart´sdesire(neukazuji tvou tvář,ale to,po čem touží tvé srdce).
Může snad být něco lepšího?Očividně je lepší cokoli,protože jak říká Ron Harrymu:“Brumbál měl pravdu,to zrcadlo by tě dokázalo uhnat k šílenství“.Protože zrcadlo z Erisedu slouží jako k klíč k nalezení kamene mudrců je také zkouškou charakteru té osobnosti.Marnivost a sobectví ,které člověka zejména vedou k tomu,aby se díval do zrcadla jsou špatné vlastnosti.Protože pouze někoho s vzácnými ctnostmi si zaslouží splnění přání ,jen,ten,kdo se do zrcadla podívá a vidí někoho jiného(jako v něm Harry vidí své rodiče)nebo sám sebe při nějakém nesobeckém činu(jako bylo odepření kamene Voldemosrtovi),dosáhne toho,po čem touží.
